A wild branch engrafted by grace
Encouraging others to live a fully engrafted life™
Once a wild and barren, good for nothing branch lost in this world, I was destined to stay busted, broke,
abandoned, incarcerated, or worse--thrown into the fire. I lived up to my surname--Savage--a wild child by nature.
But
God is faithful and lived up to the name He gave me--Shonda--God is gracious! By God's grace through Jesus Christ, I am redeemed
and given life as I am grafted into the Root!
The Lord picked up this decaying, wild branch and grafted me into the
cultivated olive tree--Jesus Christ! Now HIS life sustains mine.
Romans 11:17 HCSB
...you, though a wild olive branch, were grafted in among them, and have come
to share in the rich root of the cultivated olive tree
Now because of Jesus the Lord calls my name a green olive tree. (Jeremiah 11:16) My beauty shall be as the
olive tree that is always green. (Hosea 14:6)
Psalm 52:8
But I am like a flourishing olive tree
in the house of God;
I trust in God's
faithful love forever and ever.
God's grace is extended to each person who will receive Him through Christ. God is wild about each person.
Trust Him and tap in, be grafted into the nourishing Root of His love! Let's learn to live fully engrafted to the Root.
Engrafted by His Grace--
Shonda Savage Whitworth
"Having joined the church and made a profession, what is the next effect of grace for the believer then? Why it is to
make him beautiful as "the olive-tree." The most beautiful thing in the world is a Christian. Shall I tell you what
kind of beauty he has? His beauty is the beauty of an olive tree; and that consists, first, in its fruitfulness. The most
beautiful olive tree a man can grow is the one that bears the most; and the most beautiful Christian in the Church is the
one that abounds most in good works. Besides, the olive is an evergreen, and so is the Christian. He has an olive-green beauty.
'He has a beauty which does not fade away, as it does from other trees, but lives for ever."
~~C.H. Spurgeon
